This position can be based out of our US Corporate office in Seattle, WA; Bellevue, WA; Boston, MA; Los Angeles, CA; Malvern, PA; or Sunnyvale, CA.
The Talent Management (TM) Principal role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute your experience and passion for all things talent in two complex and growing global businesses, Ring, Blink, Key, Sidewalk (RBKS) and Project Kuiper (Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Program).
Ring, Blink, Amazon Key and Amazon Sidewalk (RBKS) operate in an exciting space of providing customers with peace of mind, utility, and convenience. Since its launch in 2012, Ring has become the global leader in residential security, and Blink leads through low-cost easy-to-use smart security devices, with an industry leading 2-year battery life. Amazon Key provides remote and secure access to residential and commercial spaces, and Amazon Sidewalk is working towards providing seamless connectivity to devices beyond customers’ homes.
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase broadband access through a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit. Their goal is to provide fast, reliable, affordable internet to unserved and under-served places around the world. We’re investing in new technology that will impact millions of customers globally, including households, small businesses, and organizations. From designing satellite management systems to building solar panels, we create solutions that make technology more accessible. We’re aiming high. The Principal, Talent Management role will build a holistic, integrated Talent strategy for RBKS and Kuiper, while rolling up their sleeves to deliver and own end-to-end organization wide Org effectiveness solutions. The Principal will conduct organization level analyses to uncover meaningful insights on critical talent and organizational issues and opportunities for improving talent leverage and organizational speed and execution. They will partner closely with our Devices HR COEs, Amazon Global Talent Management COE, HR leaders and business leaders to drive talent and organizational design efforts, and build/manage talent programs. This role will report to the HR Director for RBKS & Kuiper.
Key job responsibilities
– The ideal candidate must be self-driven, possess a high degree of ownership and have strong business acumen, excellent business writing and influencing skills, planning/project management skills and thrive working in a fast-paced environment.
– This role requires dealing with a high level of ambiguity and feel comfortable operating in a space with little direction for solving hard, complex talent and organizational business problems.
– The candidate should also be detailed oriented with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, problem solve, create contingency plans and organize logistics.
– The candidate should possess functional knowledge of core Talent areas preferably with experience in Talent Management and Org effectiveness.
– The candidate should be able to connect the dots within the employee lifecycle and translate a strategy into a practical operating plan.
– The candidate should possess the ability to work in an ambiguous environment with minimal guidance or supervision.
– There is no opportunity in this role to outsource work to external consultants so candidates must have strong ownership, grit, and drive for results.
A day in the life
Talent Priorities and Initiatives
• Act as a direct partner to the HR Director, RBKS and Kuiper Leadership team on key business specific Talent priorities supporting business evolution over the next 3 years.
• Develop Talent strategies and mechanisms to support the build of critical and emerging capabilities (Manufacturing, Hardware, LLM, Computer vision) required for the next phase of these businesses.
• Deep dive into data and anecdotes to identify potential gaps, core talent problems to solve that are unique to the business/organization, and provide insights that inform actions throughout the lifecycle.
• Design and roll out Talent initiatives in support of the fast hiring growth of the businesses (such as Global Onboarding experience, Culture building) including roadmap development, mechanism design, success measures, Business sponsorship, etc…
• Partners with HRD on unique L8+ Executive Development needs, with an evolving (RBKS) and growing (Kuiper) leadership team (such as Executive Leadership development, Organizational Succession planning, critical talent identification and development)
Transformation and Organizational Development
• Develop a roadmap, in partnership with senior HR and business leaders, for redesigning the global organization structure and site capability for existing (RBKS) and new (Kuiper) locations.
• Support Global expansion by building executive capabilities for new sites and gravity wells to ensure a consistent and inclusive employee experience across the globe.
• Accelerate the organization transformation by building Change management best practices moving the organization through all business maturity stages.
• Conduct organizational analysis to uncover talent and org effectiveness insights and build talent and organizational effectiveness solutions (both scrappy or long-term) and mechanisms with the objective to help the business increase talent leverage and improve organizational speed and execution.
• Continuously monitor ongoing organizational spans, layers and other OD metrics and work closely with HR leaders on addressing organizational issues to maintain the right organizational structure and evaluate the impact of org design changes.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Participate in Devices & Services COE central team meetings to represent the line perspectives and capture and report back key takeaways.
• Deliver content for business facing forums such as Leadership meetings, business MBR and QBR and other business facing communications.
• Build connections with the broader Amazon TM and OD network and look for innovation ways to solve business needs, such as experimentation, or new tools/technologies (from other Amazon orgs) to consistently raise the bar on Talent initiatives and drive consistency as we scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or Specialist role, preferably in a business partner role in the tech industry, driving organizational change initiatives and developing talent management plans for global organization teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation, data visualization, and facilitation skills
• Experience in talent management, organizational network analysis, organizational design and development.
• Understanding of experimental design and testing of ideas that justifies ROI on solutions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. legal permanent resident (i.e., Green Card holder)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in Human Resources or PhD in Organizational Development
• Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to integrate HR and business strategies
• Proficiency with data gathering, analysis, and presentation of insights
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, paired with sound business judgment and ability to see around corners
• Proven project management skills including planning work, prioritizing and managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, using time well, and delivering results with tight deadlines
• Self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Experience identifying and resolving issues independently, will take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances. Strong bias for action and “get stuff done” attitude.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
