DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We are searching a talented candidate with expertise in PNT (Positioning, Navigation and Timing) and software development.

Key job responsibilities
This position requires experience in simulation and development of terrestrial navigation and timing system composed of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors and local oscillators. A successful candidate will work on flight embedded software and terrestrial systems.

Working with the Kuiper engineering team, you will:
• Support conceptual design of PNT systems
• Develop simulation tools to assess expected performance
• Own and operate HITL (Hardware In The Loop) tests on PNT systems
• Perform field tests and performance assessments of PNT systems
• Develop software tools to automate data analysis
• Work closely with RF, GNC and software engineers to improve PNT system performance

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or related field.
– 3+ years of software engineering experience
– Experience with GNSS fundamentals
– Experience with IMU sensors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or comparable experience
– Experience with accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer data calibration and processing filter (Extended Kalman Filter) development
– Experience with AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System)
– Experience with GNSS systems, including processing raw measurements such as pseudoranges and carrier phases
– Experience with GNSS positioning engine development or software defined GNSS receiver development
– Experience with various types of oscillators (TCXO, OCXO, etc) characterization and performance assessment
– Experience with resilient PNT or RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring)
– Graduate school level understanding of frequency references
– Graduate school level understanding of PNT systems
– Excellent communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
