DESCRIPTION

Amazon.com is seeking an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to support Global Risk Management & Claims. The ideal candidate will be innovative, team oriented, an effective communicator, have a desire to participate in change, and appreciate a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities. This role will develop a controllership framework for tracking and validating insurance payables and receivables.

Key job responsibilities
– Create/maintain a claims payable and receivables subledger – track and apply payments, validate balances with mediators, and investigate and correct discrepancies.
– Establish mechanisms to automate subledger workflow.
– Manage relationships between Risk Managers, Claims and Stakeholders as it pertains to accounting (business accounting and finance, actuary, captive, legal and tax).
– Automate manual processes and invent to drive efficiencies and accuracy.
– Maintain SoPs, editing as processes change and informing stakeholders considering up and down stream impacts.
– Link data to Amazon chart of account and generate outputs needed by stakeholders to reconcile activity or explain trends.
– Validate data, resolving errors and ensuring reporting of data is accurate and variances period over period are identified.
– Ensure compliance with financial controls, and provide evidence to support quarterly attestation.
– Assist in month end close process for multiple lines of risk including data intake, transformation, and allocations while managing deliverables with the highest of standards for organization, accuracy and communication.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree in accounting, information systems, finance, or equivalent, or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
– 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– 3+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
– 3+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
– Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
– Knowledge of SOX methodology and associated standards (sections 302, 404, AS5, PCAOB, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– MBA, or CPA
– 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
– Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
– Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple initiatives in a fast paced environment with stakeholder management skills
– Ability to manipulate large sets of data into aggregated summaries for journal entry and reporting purposes
– 4+ years of experience related to insurance programs (e.g. Healthcare/Life/Disability, Property, Casualty, Auto)
– 4+ years of data reporting, reconciliation, modeling and variance analysis
– Solid working knowledge of finance systems and chart of accounts

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
