DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Digital and Emerging Payments Team’s vision is to delight our customers with the best payment experience in the world! To achieve this vision, we are in search of a talented Sr TPM who is customer obsessed and is focused on delivering first class quality products to our customers.
Our team takes a world view of payments for all of Amazon and builds highly customized and seamless payment experiences for our global customers. This focuses on geography and customer requires working on different technologies such as Android, Amazon Fire, and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. Our back-end systems are always available and guarantee that our customers’ orders are never lost and always processed even when downstream services are down.
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the Digital and Emerging Payments (part of IESP) organization, you will play a crucial role in translating goals into actionable plans and implementing efficient operational processes. You’ll drive project schedules from design to production launch – anticipating bottlenecks, balancing business needs with technical constraints, and providing clear updates. You will lead and coordinate efforts between front-end and back-end teams to develop optimal solutions for engineers around the world. Working collaboratively across teams, your responsibilities will include defining mechanisms, processes, executing projects and implementing change strategies. You will also be responsible for building optimal processes by collaborating with leadership team members to execute strategic initiatives across marketing campaign management and workflow automation. Overall, your expertise will drive strategic alignment, process efficiency, and successful project outcomes within our organization.
We’re looking for a strong history of program management, demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You should thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
Key job responsibilities
– Build project plans by working backwards, set milestones, establish mechanisms, and bring the right people together to solve technical problems and ensure successful delivery.
– Coordinate with leaders and stakeholders in multiple teams across Tech, and Business/Product to drive data-driven decisions and alignment to achieve the program goals.
– Dive deep into technical blockers, and work with cross-functional development teams to unblock delivery or find a path to resolution.
– Create technical design documents, influence technical priorities, and apply project management best practices to increase the effectiveness and impact of your programs.
– Identify blind spots, look around corners to identify improvement opportunities, and provide the technical glue between multiple teams/orgs and in areas that do not have clear lines of ownership.
– Understand the architecture of the systems you work with (e.g., workflows, APIs, design limitations, and maintenance requirements).
– Communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences including Directors and VPs. This includes writing emails, documents, and hotly debated topics for senior leaders.
– Lead the resolution of contentious issues, drive escalations, identify and mitigate risks for project delivery, and ensure regular status reporting.
