As part of the Amazon Core Shopping organization, we own and develop most of the core shopping experiences on Amazon.com, the Amazon app, and Alexa. Our goal is to create innovative product discovery experiences and deliver exceptional pre- and post-purchase experiences for our customers.
We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Senior Applied Scientist with a background in AI, Gen AI, Machine Learning, and NLP to help build LLM solutions for Amazon Core Shopping. You’ll be working with talented scientists and engineers to innovate on behalf of our customers. Key job responsibilities
As an Senior Applied Scientist, you will work on state-of-the-art technologies that will result in published papers. However, you will not only theorize about the algorithms but also have the opportunity to implement them and see how they perform in the field. Our team works on a variety of projects, including state-of-the-art generative AI, LLM fine-tuning, alignment, prompt engineering, and benchmarking solutions. You will be also mentoring junior scientists on the team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
– PhD, or Master’s degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
– Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
– Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– PhD and 7+ years of post-PhD academic or industry applied research experience in building and deploying models for business applications.
– Experience with professional software development
– Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
