What to Expect

As a Tesla Casting Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment, such as Molten Metal Furnaces and High Pressure Die Casting Machines. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. 

What You’ll Do
Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
Perform repairs on production-down equipment
Operate and repair every cell on a line
Perform Corrective Maintenance repairs on the equipment
Experience with electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, mechanical systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, networks and robotics  
Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
Ability to work off-shifts, as needed
What You’ll Bring
Experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education
Verbal and written communication skills (able to understand and record maintenance procedures, shift pass downs, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret basic assembly instructions
Basic computer skills (able to use basic PC applications to report issues and provide inputs)
Good mechanical and electrical knowledge (understand typical mechanisms and wiring associated with equipment)
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Physical Demands

Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Potential exposure to confined spaces, elevated heat and hazardous materials
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, hearing protection and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
