What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented Industrial Engineering Technician to contribute to implementing Engineering and Lean Principles to the manufacturing process of our cutting-edge Gigafactory New York. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, the Engineering Technician will help improve processes to increase overall efficiency, capacity, and safety. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of an incredibly exciting product.
What You’ll Do
Assist Industrial Engineers in developing and deploying efficient systems to integrate production associates, machines, material requirements, and information to achieve optimal manufacturing processes
Collaborate with Production Management and cross-functional support teams to identify manufacturing constraints and execute solutions accordingly
Assist Engineers and Production Management to plan work assignments based on production associate performance, machine capability, and production schedules. Knowledge of rules regarding alternative work schedules
Ability to create multi-process workstation layouts, standardized work, staffing and process maps to execute a successful rebalance of workstations as needed
Ability to prepare diagrams to illustrate workflow, product routing, floor layouts, material handling, and equipment utilization
Ability to collect statistical production cycle time studies, analyze data, and optimize process. Working knowledge of 5S principles, Work Measurement, JIT, Kanban and Problem Solving Methods
What You’ll Bring
Understands the definition of Takt time, target cycle time, and factors of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in depth
Moderate data analysis skills – Tableau/Splunk/SQL knowledge is a plus
Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills. Conflict resolution and change management skills are a plus
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Visio is a plus). Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematic drawings and formulas
Degree or postsecondary certificate in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent expierence
2+ years’ experience working as a technician or production lead
