What to Expect
This position will join the Quality Engineering Team at Gigafactory New York. The primary objective is to support the manufacturing of high-quality residential and commercial electronics, electric vehicle charging systems, and/or the remanufacturing of electric vehicle battery systems. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver and demonstrated leader, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Create and maintain PFMEAs to determine potential risks in manufacturing process and drive resolution of high-risk issues into process controls
Establish and maintain Control Plans to assure critical features are controlled and monitored through the assembly/production processes as well as establish criteria for Part Inspection Standards based on product specification and process critical requirements
Develop and implement Quality Key Points for visual inspection that meets product specifications used by in process inspections and quality audits
Lead development and improvement efforts of the Quality Management System for the department as well as create schedule for regular audits and inspections to be performed by quality technicians across all product lines
Review and provide disposition to non-conforming material and perform mechanical and electrical failure analysis on components and assemblies
Lead and facilitate sorting activity and drive part improvement with suppliers on part non-conformances as well as lead containment activity on non-conforming material by determining appropriate suspect range to quarantine and provide disposition of material
Track quality performance metrics from technician audits and organize regular reviews with all cross-functional stakeholders; prioritize top issues and drive continuous improvement activities as well as manage and develop team of quality technicians responsible for daily audits and quality improvements
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, etc) or other technical discipline OR 7+ years’ work experience in manufacturing quality
Experience managing a technical team, or other professional leadership experience as well as demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and implement changes
Experience conducting PFMEAs for production processes as well as experience in ISO-9001, QS-9000, ISO/TS/IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP is a plus
Experience in 6-Sigma is a plus as well as specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods, such as fishbone diagrams and/or 8D, and implementing successful countermeasures
Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, and similar
Proficiency in SQL, R, Minitab (or similar), is a plus
Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques as well as familiarity reliability test techniques (accelerated life testing) is a plus
Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
