What to ExpectTesla’s Gigafactory New York is currently seeking a
Manufacturing Engineer to help support both new & existing equipment & production
line design/automation. This role will own critical design projects for a
variety of our high-volume manual or automated manufacturing lines. Activities/ownerships
will include part/assembly mechanical design, electrical & controls
equipment specifications, supporting continuous improvement activities,
independently diagnose equipment issues, and working with cross functional
teams to maximize equipment performance and minimize cost.What You’ll DoOwn/Lead Mechanical Design – 3D Part/Assembly Design, FEA Analysis
& 2D Drawings with Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) in SolidworksRapid Prototyping – Collaborate with cross functional
engineers/teams, internal/external machine shops, internal 3D printing services,
as well as third-party vendors to build, test, optimize and validate new parts,
systems and/or full line equipmentCollaborate with safety and ergonomic teams to review
equipment/process requirements, compiling equipment risk assessments, and selecting/integrating
safety devices into both new & existing manufacturing stations/linesElectrical & Controls Experience (Bonus) – Familiar
with NACL electrical safety standards (NEC, CEN, etc.), communication/network
protocols (TCP, IP, etc.), electrical hardware/wiring/schematic design (EPLAN,
AutoCAD), and creating utility metrics for facilities systems (PDPs, compressed
air, process water, etc.)Demonstrate strong project management skills – Collaborate
with a wide variety of cross functional teams onsite (Product Design, Safety,
Quality, Process, Production, Packaging, Facilities/Construction) to meet
project stakeholder requirementsCreate New Line Make Cases or Existing Line Upgrade
proposals by analyzing/creating equipment timing charts to optimize cycle times,
balance automation based on calculated payback period (ROI), strategize PC
material flow within factory, ensure adequate WIP buffering & production
redundancies to ensure production uptimeExperience with both Product & Manufacturing process
failure mode analysis (PFMEA) as well as design failure mode analysis (DFMEA)External and Internal Vendor Management – Create RFQ’s in
collaboration with procurement team to develop & identify cost effective
solutions which are delivered on time.Own Root Cause Analysis – Preemptively/Reactively
investigate, identify, and solve equipment & process concerns, production
ramps, equipment reliability & yield for both new & existing equipment
or methodsLead factory acceptance testing (FAT) with vendors at
offsite locations as well as follow-up site acceptance testing (SAT) on
equipment delivered & installed onsite

What You’ll BringDegree in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical
Engineering, or equivalent experience2-5 years’ experience with hands-on manufacturing
engineering experience or related field/experienceProven proficiency with Solidworks for 3D Part/Assembly
Design, 2D Drawings/Schematics, and Quotation + Procurement for Production Intent
Parts/EquipmentRapid Design & Prototyping, 3D Printing, and first
principles thinking to accelerate concept to production intent designDemonstrated strength of experience with both manual &
automated high-volume manufacturing equipmentDemonstrated experience initiating, evaluating, leading,
and driving equipment design projects to completionDemonstrated experience with 8D, Six Sigma and Lean
FundamentalsProven leadership/ownership of large capital equipment
