Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the advent of sustainable energy. Our suite of energy products for grid-connected and off-grid applications performs a variety of high value functions for utilities, businesses, and residential customers. The energy products team is growing rapidly and is adding highly qualified members to the product, engineering, finance, and sales teams.
You will be a key member of the Hardware and Firmware Product Management team, defining and commercializing product offerings for B2B energy storage solutions (Megapack and Powerpack) across our three core segments: Utilities, Commercial & Industrial, and Microgrids. You will leverage your expertise to develop market and product requirements needed to deliver industry-leading products. You will also be a key technical member of a cross-functional Product Management team that also supports the ongoing development of technical content for sales, finance, and engineering teams for Tesla’s industrial energy products. Finally, you will be responsible for identifying and defining features or product improvements and managing their commercial and technical development as well as release efforts.
You will be required to wear many hats and adapt to a fast-paced work environment. This is a multi-faceted role where strong knowledge of commercial and engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems) topics is a must, and product management experience is highly desired. What You’ll Do
Leverage market research, competitive diligence and customer feedback to define product vision and strategy
Create business cases and market & product requirements to inform the product roadmap priorities
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for the product based on data-driven insights and feedback
Define and commercialize offerings into standardized, sellable products to ensure successful projects and customer success, working closely with cross-functional teams across the engineering and commercial organizations
Develop and drive implementation of technical content (technical documentation, marketing collateral, Independent Engineering reports) to provide internal and external parties with all information pertinent to our products and offerings on product topics related to performance, safety, installation, features, grid code, safety compliance, and much more
Lead or support cross-functional techno-commercial discussions on fleet decisions that affect Tesla and/or customer P&L
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Experience in product management spanning hardware and firmware, preferably in the energy industry is highly desired; experience with project contracting is a plus
Demonstrated ability to interact with commercial and technical stakeholders
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, across many teams, in a short timeframe, with demonstrated ability to pivot rapidly
Deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid
