What to Expect

The Utility Approval Specialist is responsible for handling several different work streams for customers and Energy projects to reach key milestones through system activation and finalized through registration of incentives and capture. This includes processing documentation, understanding technical design criteria for submission of utility and incentive program applications, managing a pipeline of projects from initial creation to final utility and incentive program approval.

Within this role, the daily tasks include: following up on outstanding utility applications, responding to internal inquiries, keeping Tesla systems up to date with project information, interacting with various internal and external groups, and perform other related tasks to assist moving projects to completion.

This role requires vigilant attention to detail, consistent application of initiative and sound judgement to solve problems. The successful candidate is detail-orientated has keen organization skills and possesses an ability to deal with large volumes of different work streams with speed and accuracy.

What You’ll Do
Prepare, review, submit, and follow up on a high volume of documents for customers and their utility and incentive programs
Analyze technical design plans and project details for job readiness for utility application and installation or activation approvals
Determine the correct paperwork per the product, utility, or other regulating organizations
Daily input of appropriate notes for all utility tasks, manage project status updates, and generate necessary reports to complete assignments
Phone and email communication with Tesla colleagues, customers, utility contacts, and incentive programs to ensure proper documentation is obtained or internal blockers are completed in a timely manner, and requirements are understood and communicated
Suggest and participate in process improvements including better software utilization and automation, creating application templates, critical reporting and summarizing information for other departments
Research – conduct phone inquiries and web research to analyze and document interconnection requirements and processes for various states and utilities
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree or 1-3 years’ experience in process management or technical data entry
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer service via multiple platforms
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment, with good judgment on issue escalation
Reliable attendance and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
Proficiency in desktop applications (Adobe Acrobat, MS Office, MS Excel, Internet Explorer)
Ability to maintain good relationships with external vendors/utilities and internal departments, working at a desk for the entire workday
