What to Expect
As an Excavator Operator you will be responsible for covering job sites in Northern and Southern California, The Southwest US, and the Pacific Northwest US. Usual duties for this role include performing maintenance checks, implementing safety measures, handling inventories, and removing debris. Essential skills include attention to safety, communication, stamina, accuracy, teamwork, and time management. Equipment Operators are expected to work in a team environment and participate in various trades within the crew. The ideal candidate will be able to push the boundaries of construction technology along with contributing to the overall success of implementing and servicing Tesla’s solar products.
What You’ll Do
Minimum 7+ years as an equipment operator. Must have extensive attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship. The ability to read and understand drawings and specifications as well as to contribute to creating field use drawings.
Strong working knowledge of job site safety with ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning with an emphasis on identifying hazards. Must have strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management; must have high degree of initiative, and the ability to work alone and effectively with other people. Extensive knowledge in using hand and power tools.
The ability to think outside the box and find innovative solutions . Ensuring that the operating safety policies and procedures are always adhered to, especially when working with heavy equipment always working with a spotter.
Required to keep all work areas tidy by picking up scraps and disposing of refused. Must be able to maintain machinery by making sure equipment is stored and cleaned properly by greasing daily.
Ensuring that any necessary work reports and documentation is prepared and filled out at the end of each day and handed over to the supervisor for their approval. These may include providing recommendations for how to improve or maintain environmental performance.
Ensuring that all health and safety regulations are maintained on the work site, observing, and raising awareness to their colleagues of any potential problems. Understanding the rules and requirements of 811(dig alert). Also aware of underground utilities, utilities boxes and existing trenches.
Carpentry and concrete finishing experience is a plus. Must have flexibility to be trained to support Powerpack and Solar panel installation in between concrete projects.
What You’ll Bring
Ability to produce parts lists and work plans based off drawings or field walks
Ability to produce as-built drawing for work performed
Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies as required
Personal hand tools, tool belts and other small personal tools (power tools are company provided)
Experience operating excavator, bobcat, scissor lifts, boom lifts and forklifts
OSHA-10 preferred
