Tesla is looking for a highly motivated EquipmentEngineer to create manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting edgeCastings and CNC Machining chassis/drive unit manufacturing facility. Tesla isa demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highlymotivated team on extremely challenging projects. In addition todeveloping manufacturing equipment and processes, Manufacturing Engineers workwith cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You willwork closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to take new partdesigns into full production with new equipment and update existing equipmentdesigns to meet new production needs.
What You’ll Do
Report to Engineering Manager and lead design ofmanufacturing equipment projects and fixturing.
Lead development of new and existingmanufacturing cells with process and controls engineering
Drive design for manufacturability
Develop specifications for custom automationequipment
Closely collaborate with external equipmentintegrators on custom automation equipment design
Manage external equipment integrators fromequipment development through buyoff
Validate and characterize new equipment andfixtures for production implementation
Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions todocument new processes
Lead ongoing development of equipment standardsand documentation
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Mechanical or ManufacturingEngineering or equivalent experience
Experience with multiple new equipment/product installations/startups
5 plus years of manufacturing engineeringexperience
Experience developing manufacturing equipmentfor new and unique products
Experience transitioning equipment or fixturesfrom prototype to production
Experience developing automated manufacturingequipment
Experience with industrial robots (FANUC, Kuka)strongly preferred
PLC programming and network knowledge preferred
Experience introducing new equipment and newprocesses into a production environment (APQP is a plus)
