What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Facilities Water Engineer to support the industrial water systems (Pure Water and Wastewater) for EV manufacturing processes at Gigafactory Nevada. You will play a critical role on our facilities engineering team supporting and optimizing our brand-new advanced wastewater treatment facility – aiming to close the loop of GFNV water usage by inhouse recycling all generated wastewater in manufacturing processes. Advanced wastewater treatment plant consists of reclamation and concentrate reduction units with state-of-the-art technologies. In addition to wastewater treatment, you will be able to work with pure water systems with reverse osmosis and ion exchange-based water purification systems. As the facilities water engineer, you are expected to be working as a subject matter expert who is responsible for safety, capacity improvement, refining operational tools, process optimization, and structured problem-solving on Pure Water, Industrial Reclaim, Industrial Waste, and Brine Treatment Systems. Come join us to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with cross functional teams (Operations, Maintenance, and Production) along with site tenants to ensure process, equipment, and asset availability to best meet customer requirements
Integrate and standardize best safety practices for all water purification and waste water treatment systems
Predict utility and chemical usage through thorough analysis
Effectively respond and support facilities operational process issues in a 24/7 production setting
Increase process uptime and minimize equipment downtime for the assigned assets
Create, modify, and optimize standard operating procedures, programs, other documentation and site specifications
Complete monthly system operational cost analysis and drive improvement based on analysis. Conduct research and pilot studies, to drive a CAPEX project
Monitor current system demands and capacity concerns
Perform system analysis including root cause analysis, failure mode analysis, capacity and demand management, troubleshooting, and SPC
Provide input to strategic short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
2+ years of experience in water purification operations including reverse osmosis (RO) and/or Wastewater treatment systems
Advanced knowledge of water purification technologies and system operations
Operational experience in wastewater treatment, domestic water, and demineralized water systems
Prior experience in a high purity facility preferred (e.g. semiconductor)
Experience with commissioning, starting up, and troubleshooting water systems and understanding of water chemistry
Ability to use hydraulic analysis such as Pipe-flo and RO analysis tools such as ROSA is preferred
Effective communications and cross-functional abilities
