What to Expect
This position will work as a member of Tesla’s Instrumentation and Imaging Group to support product validation of Tesla Vehicles in development; Cybertruck, Semi, Next-Gen vehicles, etc. Additionally, within this role, the person will continue providing support to the rest of the Tesla products as dictated by the priorities. This role is responsible for performing and overseeing all instrumentation and data acquisition of components, sub-systems, and full vehicles in a laboratory and proving ground environments. The job function will also require the technician to support vehicle preparation, tear-down, and test execution, by working closely with the Vehicle Test team. The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in automotive testing.
What You’ll Do
Identify, source, and procure required data acquisition and sensors
Installation of sensors and data acquisition hardware on the vehicle as identified by test plans
Set up a data acquisition program and validate the connectivity of all the sensors
Installation, calibration, and set up of strain gauges is a plus
Maintain sensor library, sensor repair, and coordinate calibration activities of all instrumentation
Create daily work plans to achieve test plan goals on schedule
Design and create custom brackets and fixtures
Support testing activities and/or vehicle preparation and tear-down as required by workflow priority
Perform onsite support and testing while monitoring and validating data
Basic data analysis and data cleanup by working closely with multiple engineering teams
What You’ll Bring
Experience instrumenting vehicles with Accelerometers, Loadcells, Pressure sensors, Thermocouples, Wheel Force Transducers, Strain Gages, etc
Experience with data acquisition systems like DTS, SOMAT, NI, DEWESOFT, etc
Formal electronics training (AC/DC circuits, formulae, and components) or Equivalent work experience
Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment, for the servicing of automobiles
Ability to operate and use diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public
Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
A minimum of 3 years of instrumentation and data acquisition experience or applicable degree/certification
Valid driver’s license required
Flexibility to travel domestically (Up to 50%)
