What to Expect

Tesla Motors is seeking an incredibly sharp, fast on their toes Engineering Program Manager to manage the product development of our next generation platforms, new products, and future programs. This person will coordinate over all aspects of a program regarding timing, quality, and cost. This requires maintaining and adjusting overall program schedule, help with identifying and resolving concerns regarding product development, supplier selection and readiness, manufacturability, and testing (e.g., durability, reliability, compliance). 

Furthermore, the Engineering Program Manager will leverage their experience to ensure the best possible value for Tesla in terms of funding requirements (tooling and ED&T) and part costs. This person will interact with multiple departments; Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and the rest of the Program Management team. 

What You’ll Do
Work within Design Engineering and be responsible for understanding and communicating the latest program plan of record and performance criteria(s)
Tracking, reporting, and maintaining statuses and investigations of: schedule, mass, and cost. Including but not limited to creation and maintenance of dashboards depicting latest program design statuses
Coordinate, manage and track multiple design iterations with CAE team for virtual design validation
Work with other engineering program leaders to coordinate and manage prototype development, schedule, and builds
Work with supply chain management to understand raw material availability, constraints, strategy, and technologies to communicate back to Design Engineers and Management
Work with suppliers to manage latest design intent, changes, data delivery, supplier feedback, DFM, and part requirements
Establish, organize, and track physical design validation targets and test cases for new product introduction. Crash / Abuse Testing, Reliability & Durability Testing, Corrosion Testing 
Ideation and creation of high level BOM management & strategy
Work closely with NPI (New Product Introduction) group to establish and communicate engineering deliverables and manufacturing constraints on new programs as well as running changes
Track, manage and prioritize manufacturing design feedback from issue creation, validation & closure
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
2 years of experience in automotive program management proven by successful model launch(s) 
Excellent organizational and communication skills 
Ability to lead cross functional teams
Ability to plan effectively for both internal and external stakeholders. 
Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment and deal with multiple tasks at the same time
Ability to develop timing plans for complex programs, understanding of financial evaluations and product costing techniques
Ability to recognize and manage risk of design with intelligent solutions
Good understanding of CAD and BOM management and architecture techniques
Basic understanding of Vehicle Crash and Homologation requirements
