What You’ll Do
Define test schedules, product sample requirements and test equipment
Collaborate with the firmware and hardware teams to design, build and commission test setups
Develop test methodologies to target specific FMEA, Abuse, Regulatory and Reliability test cases
Test execution
Root cause and recreate failure modes Analyze and document test data, communicate results and recommendations Responsible site engineer ensuring test efficacy, regulatory controls, health and safety and equipment suitability
Prepare and submit accurate technical reports
Working within a quality management system and controls
Work with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories to achieve product compliance
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact in a complex product
Hands-on experience with Test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, CAN Analyzer/Logger, Power Analyzer, Insulation Resistance Meter, Hi-pot, High Current/Voltage Source, DAQ systems, etc.)
Knowledge of a Fire Calorimetry, FTIR, mass loss rate and fire dynamics.  Ability to coordinate test schedules with required personnel and equipment, write fire test protocols and perform fire research as required
Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems
Effective communicator and excellent attention to detail. Remain engaged, proactive, and positive under adverse environments, owning assignments and taking full accountability
Experience with electrical CAD and circuit design/simulation software
Experience with electrical abuse/safety testing using high current switches, high voltage DC sources, and battery module thermal testing chambers, ability to create and understand basic fire modeling programs
Familiar with AC/DC electrical system design concepts based on NEC (Conductor sizing, Earthing, Protective device sizing) Knowledge of AC/DC electrical system analysis
Willing to travel nationally and internationally between Tesla facilities and certification laboratories
