About us:

As a Fortune 50 company with more than 400,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America’s leading retailers. At Target, we have a timeless purpose and a proven strategy and that hasn’t happened by accident. Some of the best minds from diverse backgrounds come together at Target to redefine retail in an inclusive learning environment that values people and delivers world-class outcomes. That winning formula is especially apparent in Bengaluru, where Target in India operates as a fully integrated part of Target’s global team and has more than 4,000 team members supporting the company’s global strategy and operations.

Joining Target means promoting a culture of mutual care and respect and striving to make the most meaningful and positive impact. Becoming a Target team member means joining a community that values diverse backgrounds. We believe your unique perspective is important, and you’ll build relationships by being authentic and respectful. At Target, inclusion is part of the core value. We aim to create equitable experiences for all, regardless of their dimensions of difference. As an equal opportunity employer, Target provides diverse opportunities for everyone to grow and win

Supply Chain is at the heart what makes Target so uniquely valuable and is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly reimagining how we get the right product to the guest even better, faster and more cost effectively than before. We are becoming more intelligent, automated and algorithmic in our decision-making, so that no matter how guests shop—in stores or on Target.com—we deliver the convenience and immediate gratification they demand and deserve. Our teams work with the agility our mission requires, and we constantly come together to implement new processes in record time. So we’re looking for exceptional people who are proactive, creative, independent, innovative, risk-savvy and comfortable working in varying degrees of ambiguity. Are you a critical thinker who seeks the root cause and can analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively? Are you a creative problem-solver who simplifies problems, quickly identifies solutions, commits to a plan and then positively influences others to execute it? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams.

Working with this team, you’ll get to create the technical solutions that fuel the merchandising organization. You’ll positively impact how product moves from suppliers to stores. Working within our product teams, you’ll have a hand in creating the strategies and technical solutions that propel this growing $75 billion, Fortune 50 retailer. Our engineers have the advantage of the latest open source and open stack tools, as well as cutting-edge software, to implement both custom-developed and packaged solutions. You’ll work on autonomous teams and incorporate the newest technical practices. You’ll have the chance to perform by writing rock-solid code that stands up to our massive scale. Plus, and perhaps best of all, you’ll have the right balance of self-rule and accountability for how technical products perform.

As a lead engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs.  You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both).  You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a “force multiplier”.  In complex and unstructured situations, serve as an expert resource to create and improve standards and best practices to ensure high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables.Provide the team with thought leadership to promote re-use and develop consistent, scalable patterns. Nurture, advise and aid engineers in a way that helps them grow and exceed their own expectations. Effectively communicate with those both inside and outside of direct team and give clear updates on all initiatives.
