We are building a group of skilled Dimensional Engineers to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to produce world class vehicle quality. You will be responsible for enhancing the dimensional appearance and craftsmanship of the Cybertruck, Model Y and New Products during the launch and production of the vehicle. This role requires a strong background in statistics, analysis, data collection, and mechanical knowledge to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of quality.

What You’ll Do
Be a key member in new product launch. Review dimensional integration tasks such as: functional requirement analysis, assembly requirement analysis, reviewing and requesting CAE studies, reviewing new part datum and attachment strategies
Lead and Strategize Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Oversee and prioritize projects aimed at resolving complex issues related to the dimensional appearance and overall quality of vehicles emerging at any points in assembly
Advanced DVA and Root Cause Analysis: Conduct comprehensive dimensional variation analysis and root cause investigations to not only identify but also predict sources of assembly issues and appearance deviations. Implement long-term corrective actions to eliminate future issues
Process and Tooling Optimization: Utilize software tools (CATIA V5 preferred) to innovate and enhance assembly processes, aiming to minimize variability. Lead the team in fixture tooling design, 2-D drawings, and datum strategies
Data Analytics Leadership: Guide junior engineers in data collection methods and perform high-level dimensional variation analyses to identify key areas for process optimization
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between BIW Dimensional Engineering Team, Quality, Production, and other departments
Support the transition of a product from concept development to pilot line production and into full-rate production
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
5+ years of assembly manufacturing experience
Strong dimensional engineering skills and a good understanding of process design, process validation, assembly methods, and design reviews
Proficient in statistics to identify critical process parameters (Cpk, Cpk, and other six sigma metrics)
Experience in fixture design and GD&T
Hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
Effective communication and teamwork skills with all levels of an organization, especially skilled at working with direct labor to understand challenges and develop optimal solutions using structured methods
