The Lead Material Handler will have a proven record of success in leading team members and takes pride in their hands on work.
What You’ll Do
Manage daily operations in production area(s) and assist in the training and development of new team members while ensuring the movement of materials (inbound/outbound) to support production operations needed to maintain production schedules while meeting inventory standards
Ensure the safety and productivity of all team members assigned to designated shift by ensuring all safety and process procedures are followed and escalating any issues promptly. Performs standardized work processes and follows defined work instructions
Assign and execute training plans for new associates and cross-training existing associates. Lead group discussions on a daily bases utilizing communication boards and/or provided visual tools to drive production goals aligning team focus
Maintains a clean and safe work place in accordance with 5S protocol and supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service by evaluating team, processes, and equipment
Monitoring the real time progress by tracking hourly progress to material delivery targets and goals. Suggests and implements new ideas to improve quality, reduce cost and support production work environment.
First level investigation of any quality, equipment or process issues, with suggestions to prevent reoccurrence in future. Troubleshoot equipment and process breakdowns and communicates to support functions for resolution. Escalates issues that arise and works to communicate best methods and practices to others
What You’ll Bring
Experience working hands on in a fast-paced production environment
Computer skills are strongly preferred
Current forklift certification strongly preferred
Previous parts and material handling experience preferred
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Flexibility in schedule / availability is ideal, as these positions are for multiple shifts
Essential Physical Demands:
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install vehicle parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Open to schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts, including days, nights, or weekends as needed
Potential exposure to confined spaces and hazardous materials used in the painting process
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
