What to Expect

The Cell Manufacturing Analytical Lab Technician will ensure that all material, both incoming & in-process meets Tesla’s quality specification requirements. This person will be responsible for conducting chemical analysis within a laboratory environment, supporting root cause analysis investigations, and managing escalations for non-conforming material. This person will work closely with Production, Development and Engineering teams to maintain outlined sample turnaround and to drive continuous improvements to the Cell Manufacturing process.

What You’ll Do
 Work with a team of Materials Scientists, Engineers, Chemists, and Technicians performing routine quality and failure analysis testing in a 24×7 cell manufacturing quality laboratory
Perform a variety of routine testing on battery cells and associated materials following established procedures
 Lead instrument calibration, method development, and test validation (MSA, GRR, etc.) for various analytical analysis methods
Comprehend and interpret chemical analysis data generated by various laboratory instruments, generating laboratory test reports
Perform wet chemistry techniques, preparing calibration solutions, sample dilutions, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required
Enforce 5S and workplace hygiene standards and maintain inventory of consumable supplies and chemicals
Support the Company’s mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or related science, or equivalent experience
2+ years’ experience working in a quality or chemical analysis laboratory with demonstrated expertise in physical materials analysis and associated quality controls
Previous experience with the operation and interpretation of materials analysis equipment including Powder Rheometers, KF moisture analyzers, Particle Size Analyzers, GC- (MS/FID), ICP-OES, Acid-Base titrators, SEM-EDS, DMA, DSC, and TGA
 Detail-oriented, able to work both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment, prompt and dependable, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excels at performing repetitive tasks where both high degrees of accuracy and precision are required
 Comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials in a laboratory environment
 Experience in measurement system analysis, gage calibration and statistical data analysis
