What to Expect

The Dangerous Goods (DG) Transportation Compliance Specialist provides technical expertise and guidance to assure the safe and compliant transportation of regulated materials for Tesla’s global supply chain. The DG Transportation Compliance Specialist focus on working with stakeholders to identify risks, develop and implement requirements, and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders and partners. The DG Transport Compliance Specialist is a direct report to the DG Transportation Compliance Manager within Tesla’s Supply Chain organization.

What You’ll Do
Works with Tesla internal stakeholders to implement DG policies, Standard Operating Procedures, training materials, and controls to support a culture of compliance with applicable regulations
Develop and lead complex projects to ensure Dangerous Goods transportation operate in compliance with all applicable legislations
Conducts site audits of Tesla facilities to evaluate compliance with the Dangerous Goods Transportation Compliance Policy and applicable Dangerous Goods Transportation regulations. Prepares written reports identifying compliance risks and assists facilities in identifying corrective actions. Completes follow-up verifications to ensure that all actions have been completed appropriately
Work with Logistics to provide regulatory guidance on packaging specifications, marking, labeling, and shipping documents to support day-to-day DG operation
Create targeted training content based on compliance audit findings and delayed shipment records, including instructor-led training, both web-based and in-person, as needed
Track training, rejected shipments, audit findings, and other data points to identify improvement and efficiency opportunities

 

What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Battery Safety Engineering, Supply Chain Management or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience in transportation compliance management of dangerous goods/ hazardous materials
Working knowledge of national and international dangerous goods regulations (DOT, ICAO/IATA, IMDG), operations, and procedures
Experience developing, implementing, and managing Dangerous Goods transportation compliance program
Regulatory compliance experience, including experience in preparing written reports and communicating compliance risks to stakeholders
Strong written and oral communications skills
Discretion with confidential or sensitive information
Capable of multitasking and working with changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to collaborate and influence Global, Regional and Site contacts
Ability to use software programs and database, such as Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, tableau to facilitate compliance management
