We are seeking a motivated and energetic Associate Production Manager for our Electrode Manufacturing team. Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting. Tesla moves quickly, so being passionate and self-motivated to push your limits is important.  

You will be playing a critical role developing and building a team that will spearhead production and development of battery cells at Tesla. Your excellence in people management will enable you to recruit, lead, and develop a team which includes Supervisors, Operators, and Engineering Technicians. In addition, your extensive experience and/or technical background will enable decision making when working with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, quality, and engineering. Your combined skills and mental agility will be key to successfully navigating our fast-paced development environment. 

What You’ll Do
Ensure safety and conduct policies are prioritized and met among employees

Build and continuously develop a strong, motivated production team 

Leadership of team consisting of 8 production supervisors, 32 process techs and up to 200 production associates 

Foster career development for your leadership and engineering team members 

Organize and manage production activities according to organization needs and plans. Monitor and report on production KPI’s as needed to technical and management teams 

Drive continuous improvement methodology tools such as 5S, RCFA, 5Y, and Lean Waste Elimination 

Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting   EHS incidents, correcting proactively workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations   

What You’ll Bring
5+ year experience managing teams of people 

Degree in a technical discipline or proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical experience

Industry experience in roll winding and converting is a plus 

Command of the English language, both written and verbal with demonstrated ability to solve problems, organization with meticulous attention to detail 

Demonstrated ability to perform against deadlines and under high pressure. 

Lean manufacturing knowledge and LSS certification preferred 

Creatively develop & improve production performance metrics (safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, yield, costs)
