What to Expect
Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements necessitate ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated candidates to join us in our fast-paced and exciting mission. Our team works with Engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We look for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings.
In this role, you will guide the development towards reliable designs of new cell technologies. Your will manage critical cell requirements and address design reliability risks through field-representative qualification within the schedule. You will investigate passed and failed test results to predict the cell robustness in our products and grow the confidence for program level decision making.
What You’ll Do
Develop standard test protocols based on expected field scenarios and identify unique failure modes of new cell designs
Lead Design for Reliability (DfR) and reliability stress testing to ensure demonstrated reliability and confidence level hit the targets
Generate Weibull simulation of critical failure modes and field unreliability forecast based on extensive test data
Collaborate on failure analysis to understand the root cause and drive resolution of qualification fallouts
Connect with system level teams to align on consistent derisk plans
What You’ll Bring
3+ years of relevant industry experience on reliability that involved cell or battery technology
Degreein Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience on cell or battery reliability qualification
Strong understanding of cell failure modes, the physics behind and lifetime acceleration models (mechanical and electrochemical)
Knowledge of Design for Reliability and Design of Experiments
Experience on statistical analysis, Weibull generation and Monte Carlo simulation
Proficiency on reliability software tools and scripting preferred
