What to Expect

The Utility Megapack BESS EPC team is looking to hire a skilled professional to develop and execute a MV electrical equipment sourcing strategy. This team selects contractors, materials, services and equipment required for the development and deployment of our Megapack Product for Battery Energy Storage Systems and their associated sub-stations. The role encompasses the selection of these through a competitive tender/bid process involving document preparation (scope, drawings, etc.) for projects while leading external negotiations, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
Develop and execute an electrical equipment material sourcing strategy for Metal Clad, Metal Enclosed and GIS
Develop strong stakeholder support and cooperation on assigned commodities, which can range from facilities and construction services along with equipment and material buyouts
Pre-qualify suppliers/contractors by assessing their financial credibility, insurance policies and past project experience for efficient execution of Tesla’s scope of work
Synthesize supplier, industry and market research for assigned commodities to develop sourcing strategy
Issue RFx (RFQ, RFB, and RFP) for sourcing assigned commodities/services
Administer, facilitate and answer Requests for Information (RFI’s) received during the tender process by issuing RFP Addendums (changes to the contracts and agreements)Implementing Worldwide/Regional/Country agreements, as necessary, to mitigate Tesla’s exposure to risk and consolidate suppliers’ spend
Review, analyze and clarify bid packages received from suppliers and service providers. Make and present recommendations to award after performing a detailed bid analysis ensuring identical scope inclusion for all bids
Conduct bid leveling sessions with contractors, review change order proposals and make approval or rejection recommendations
Actively participate in contract negotiations. Analyze historical spend, as well as forecast, spend and savings by project/commodity/business. Maintain day-to-day supplier relationships; act as the lead point of contact for all commercial issues
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
5-7 years of related work experience in Procurement, Operations or Consulting
Understanding of contract fundamentals and negotiations
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a dynamic, extremely fast-paced environment with guidance from a Team Manager
Ability to make quick decisions with 80% information
Ability to work cross-functionally among Engineering, Production, Service, and Energy teams
Experience or strong interest in utility substation related Purchasing, Engineering
Experience sourcing MV Switchgear and Breakers
Experience related to Engineering or Construction Management or any other relevant area in previous employment
