The Tooling & Industrial Engineering team is responsible for the development and proliferation of custom service and commissioning tooling hardware to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla Energy’s storage and charging solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by owning Systems integration of multifunctional tools, Design test plan plus execution, and technical architecture design. The ideal candidate has a good mix of electrical and firmware engineering skills with passion for working in a fast-growing renewable energy company.

What You’ll Do
Start-to-finish tool-hardware-system ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, validation, and integration with hardware
Own and support existing software and hardware tools by scaling them for mass usage
Own next generation feature and product development of current tooling and equipments
Hands-on with hardware bring up, build, and enforce component validation for delivering robust, functional code
Develop time critical code using ADC, PWM, state machines for power controls, motor controls and custom battery management
Work with existing embedded environments to understand technical deployment, service, and commissioning gaps can be solved and manage the implementation of such functions
Travel to commissioning sites, containment sites, and Giga factories 10-15% of the time
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or related field or equivalent experience
7+ years of design and prototyping experience
4+ years of product/tool release, change control experience, including designing mechatronic related solutions
2+ years of general electrical-mechanical design and proven experience integrating with manufacturing or field service
Proven ability to communicate and manage to stakeholders on design options and turbulations
Experience working with digital communication busses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.), PCBA, electrical enclosures, electrical harnesses, power supply
Understanding of key development environments such as GIT, STM32CUBEIDE, Atmel AVR
Ability to create impactful software design documentation for all stakeholder’s usage.
Proficiency with lab equipment. (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, etc)
