What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:   

This position is expected to start around January or February 2025 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.  

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

The CMF Mastering Team bridges the CMF Design and vehicle Design Quality Teams.  After the Designer approves a material (color, finish, texture, gloss, haptic, etc.), the Mastering Team works with Suppliers to match that approval and ensure all vehicles meet our Design standards for aesthetics and quality.  An intern’s scope of work will be a combination of material’s appearance evaluation, working with Suppliers to meet Design Intent, data evaluation, and driving departmental best practices.   

What You’ll Do

Supporting all aspects of the color and material mastering process, including master creation, match to master and master replenishment activities. 

Supporting supply chain development and troubleshooting to ensure CMF Design intent is met 

Supply chain performance tracking to ensure color and material masters are on track to meet production timelines 

Materials metrology research and best-practices implementation 

Project management 

What You’ll Bring

Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Design Quality, Color Science, Textiles (Technology, Management or Engineering), or Engineering 

Background and/or interest in Automotive color, material, and finish quality 

Exceptional communication skills 

Strong problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to learn concepts quickly 

Demonstrated ability to deliver results on difficult projects with tight deadlines 

Previous internship and/or project experience preferred
