What to Expect
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Gas & Chemical Engineer to support the facilities gas and chemical systems across Tesla’s Giga Nevada. This individual will play a critical role in managing and owning all systems by developing projects to improve system energy consumption, reliability and driving operational and system efficiencies. 
What You’ll Do

Lead efforts to identify system improvements and equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, maintainability, and operability of the gas & chemical systems 

Manage, generate, and implement corrective action plans for system repairs, replacements, and modifications 

Drive compliance with local and federal regulations, site and corporate Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines 

Act as facilities gas & chemical system subject matter expert and collaborate with design and construction team to ensure reliable system design and operation 

Manage system start-up and handover process post construction and commissioning 

Develop and successfully implement operational procedures, alarm management, capacity and demand management, maintenance planning and execution, safe practices are followed, best practices are shared and implemented among the facilities teams 

Lead continuous improvement efforts within the team in terms of production, cost, efficiency, reliability, quality, 5S, and environmental issues 

Effectively respond and support facilities operational process issues in a 24/7 production 

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

2-3 or more years of gas & chemical systems operations experience; semiconductor facility, refining, or battery manufacturing facility support preferred 

Experience with gas & chemical system full project cycle, including developing design basis, development of sequence of operations, commissioning sequence planning, system testing, and startup 

Some experience in process hazard reviews and analysis including HAZOP/HAZID/SIL studies and responsible for actions close-out 

Must be well versed in root cause analysis methodologies, failure mode analysis and SPC 

Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and under adverse conditions 

Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization
