What to Expect
Designing and building world-class Gigafactories, at record speed, is key to enable Tesla to scale worldwide. In this role, you will be asked to own portions of Giga Texas scoping, technical planning, integration of manufacturing layouts and drive the factory design and construction from concept definition, design to execution and production for both internal and external facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical program management, factory engineering, manufacturing, construction, contract management, and site/real estate development.
What You’ll Do
Owns plan of record, scope definition, approval, strategy, and execution for onsite/offsite infrastructure programs, by integrating, negotiating, and aligning with key stakeholders, real estate, factory engineering, construction, procurement, finance, and project customers
Owns the factory scoping efforts by pulling together the cross functional teams, understands their needs, drives technical planning, defines options/tradeoffs/cost/schedule/impacts, and secures alignment between the working and leadership teams
Owns program communications to major stakeholders; Schedule, budget, costs, forecasts, risks, changes, operational readiness, and launch readiness and drives program funding efforts to meet timelines, with quantified options assessment
Deliverables needed for procurement, costing, permitting, and construction, meet program requirements. Serve as main infrastructure program point of contact for program lifecycle
Proactively identifies and drives continuous improvement of Tesla processes to improve program performances.
Leads factory infrastructure team w/o any direct reports, negotiating and influence leadership to prioritize work efforts. Initiates technical studies such as feasibility and value engineering exercises to meet program scoping efforts, and options analysis
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
Engineering experience on manufacturing and industrial projects from concept to delivery with >7 years of demonstrated experience
Experience and understanding of building and manufacturing facilities design and construction
Experience in multiple contracting mechanisms, real estate, and offsite contract management
Advanced project management skills and demonstrated application of project and program management fundamentals to complex engineering problems
Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan
Subcontractor and consulting engineer management experience
