What to Expectyou will play an essential role in ensuring the reliable operation of a wide range of manufacturing equipment. You will leverage your expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems, alongside factory automation and robotics. Working closely with Tesla’s top-tier process and equipment engineering teams, you will contribute to enhancing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting the installation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Cybertruck General Assembly equipment. This position requires physical endurance, including working in confined spaces and performing tasks that involve walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, and occasionally lying on the ground throughout the workday. You may also be required to wear a fall protection harness when working at heights or in suspended positions. Lifting up to 50 lbs and using both hand and power tools will be necessary. What You’ll Do Collaborate with equipment owners to improve and modify systems, boosting overall equipment efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, implementing improvements, and ensuring sustained performance of Cybertruck General Assembly equipment Manage projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, production targets, and quality standards are met. Oversee resource allocation, track project milestones, and provide updates to relevant stakeholders to maintain project momentum Work autonomously, taking initiative and making decisions to drive tasks and projects to completion. Demonstrate problem-solving skills in troubleshooting, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions with minimal supervision Install and modify hardware using both electrical and mechanical schematics. Perform installations, retrofits, and upgrades independently, ensuring accuracy and alignment with technical requirements. Source and order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and vendors Maintain and troubleshoot various equipment systems, including electrical systems (24 VDC to 480 VAC 3-phase), mechanical systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, PLCs (BASIC – Siemens), and robotics (Fanuc/Kuka). Fabricate mounting brackets and adapters using machine shop tools. Experience with CNC machining is highly valued Proficient in reading schematics, mechanical drawings, and some design (SolidWorks or CATIA), troubleshooting electrical systems, diagnosing faults, and conducting repairs. Ensure adherence to maintenance safety protocols such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), 5S, and Arc Flash standards (NFPA70E) Flexible to work weekends, nights, and holidays, supporting Tesla’s aggressive production targets by ensuring the continuous operation of equipment. Willing to adapt to varying shift schedules (AWS or Monday-Friday) to meet production demands and respond to equipment downtime What You’ll BringProficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and hydraulic systemsExperience with programming and control systems used in manufacturingStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressureKnowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practicesFamiliarity with industrial automation and control softwareAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and schematicsExperience in a manufacturing environment with high-volume production lines
