What to Expect
Highly skilled Tool and Die Specialists who have experience with performing preventative maintenance and repairs on automotive dies.
The Tool and Die Specialist will support the Stamping Department, maintaining the dies to meet production standards and goals in a timely manner. We are looking for candidates who are shift flexible and available to work overtime, based on business needs.
What You’ll Do
Maintain die PM system, including detailed work instructions and manage on schedule completion of PM activities
Support defect troubleshooting procedures, die preparation check sheets, and trial procedures
Maintain die spare parts lists and ensure parts are set up and in stock
Follow die cleaning method and adherence to schedule
Identify and implement proactive systems to achieve consistent reduction in stamping defects and productivity concerns
Support development of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for production dies to identify critical risks and develop appropriate control plans
Troubleshoot press line and minimize die down times during production
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years hands-on experience working in automotive die maintenance and repair
Class A work experience, interior or exterior body panels/large transfer dies
Tool and Die trade obtained at a die design and build facility including hands-on CNC die surface machining, welding, and spotting experience
Knowledge of world class production systems – i.e., Toyota Production System (TPS), General Motors Systems (GMS), or equivalent.
Experience in new vehicle development and launch activities
Understand interpretation of dimensional inspection results (checking fixture, CMM or vision system)
Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
Strong analytic problem-solving skills and organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing Protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
