What to Expect
We are a diverse, enthusiastic, and growing team of multi-disciplined Engineers that further Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy by demonstrating the functionality, performance, and durability of low voltage electronic systems (LVES) hardware. We get the opportunity to work on a variety of different development programs, and we often step outside of our normal role to support the fast-paced environment.
Your job is to collaborate with teams across Tesla to ensure these products meet their design intent over the lifetime of the vehicle. Your responsibilities span across the entire development cycle – from working alongside design teams during initial conceptualization, to final sign-off with data driven demonstrated reliability. We are the knowledge holders of how to properly validate the products, and we work cross-functionally throughout the organization to ensure proper scope and timely execution are achieved.
What You’ll Do
Drive hardware validation efforts for LV/ES programs. Your job is to become a product expert, figure out how it could fail and collaborate with design partners to drive design or process changes
Develop and maintain test automation software to streamline safety, data collection and data analysis
Design and build custom test equipment such as test PCBAs, harnesses and fixtures to make validation efficient, modular and repeatable
Manage tests from development through execution. Coordinate test resources and maintain validation schedules to communicate status to a cross-functional audience
Work with the design partners, reliability team, and suppliers to root cause test failures and arrive at a corrective action
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
Proven technical experience through internships, industry, passion projects, academic / extracurricular activities
Experience using standard lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, o-scopes, DMM’s, etc.)
Coding experience, preferably Python, for test automation and data post-processing
Demonstrated experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems
You love to be hands-on, understand how to interact with a system and automate repeatable tasks. You thrive on efficiency, and hate to see someone waste their time on something a script, fixture, or robotic system could do
