What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:   

This position is expected to start around January or February 2025 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.  

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla is looking for an exceptional and passionate User Experience Design Intern to create high-impact, customer-facing web and in-store experiences. Your focus will revolve around innovating product educational experiences that guide customers along their journey, assisting them in discovering the ideal vehicle, charging solutions, and energy products tailored to their lifestyles. You will be responsible for researching, designing, prototyping, and testing new responsive digital experiences that pave the way for the future of electric vehicles and energy products. Our experiences are transforming the way consumers, businesses, and municipalities transition to EVs and sustainable energy. 
 
As an intern of the UX Design organization, you will be at the forefront of transforming the digital landscape for Tesla’s energy and vehicles across the globe. You will play a pivotal role in designing and innovating the end-to-end cross platform user experiences that set new standards in the industry. You will collaborate with product managers, content managers, engineers and global partners as a key contributor and originator. You will conceptualize, design, and implement best-in-class digital and retail experiences to guide customers in making their orders. We expect exceptional design skills, creative problem-solving and a great sense of aesthetics. The experiences of Tesla.com are innovative, simple, and minimalistic.

What You’ll Do
Research and define UX strategy, contribute to the overall product and design direction from concept to implementation 

Develop creative and innovative design solutions for product education, acquisition, and activation experiences that help guide various types of customers from different backgrounds and with different requirements 

Constantly measure how designs are performing for target customers; iterate and improve those experiences as needed 

Work in a highly collaborative environment; invest in building relationships and trust with other designers, software engineers and product partners 

Present work to partners, stakeholders and senior leaders regularly 

Leverage Tesla UX design standards and guidelines. Advocate for consistency across team members and partners 

What You’ll Bring
Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX, Human-Computer Interaction or related field of study 

An excellent portfolio showcasing user experience, visual design and UI work with a strong design sensibility and excellent, user centric storytelling 

Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills, ability to think through complex interaction design 

Proficient and highly skilled in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools 

Customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights 

Effective written and verbal communication skills 

Self-motivated, able to work independently but also collaborative and driven by group critique 

Ability to perform in a fast paced, high stress iterative design process under minimal supervision
