What to Expect
As the Instrumentation & Controls Manager, you will lead a complete team of Instrumentation and controls engineers, programmers, procurement, construction managers, and commissioning agents responsible for design, programming, construction and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems ensuring system readiness and turnover to the Facilities team. Your role will involve managing projects from inception through to completion, accountable that systems meet quality standards and operational requirements, as well as work closely with other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and performance of control systems.
What You’ll Do
Design & Programming: You will oversee the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for various projects which involves the development and implementation of control system programming, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems, ensuring design and programming adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications
Construction & Implementation: You will manage the construction and installation of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring timely delivery and within-budget completion, responsible for coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution
Quality Assurance: You will implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of instrumentation and control systems, responsible for the development and maintenance of documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and operation manuals, accountable to addressing and resolving any quality issues or deficiencies promptly
Commissioning & Start-Up: You will oversee the commissioning and start-up of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring proper functionality and performance, as well as conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments to meet project requirements. You will provide training and support to operational staff on system use and maintenance
Leadership & Management: You will lead and mentor a team of instrumentation and controls engineers and technicians, responsible for planning, assigning, and reviewing work to ensure team goals and project deadlines are met. Fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment is a top priority
Budget & Resource Management: You will develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, expenditures, and resource allocation, as well as optimize resource utilization to achieve project objectives within budget constraints
Compliance & Safety: You will ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards, as well as promote and enforce safety practices and procedures within the team and on project sites as the highest priority
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Control Systems Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience
At least 15 years of experience on large commercial or industrial construction, including experience in management of design, programming, commissioning, and construction of complex I&C systems, coordinating with contractors and vendors. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Mastery of estimating, plans reading, document control, with the ability to read, interpret, and manage changes to Mechanical & Electrical Systems and manage changes to Sequence of Operations. Expert knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems and related instrumentation technologies
