What to Expect
This position will work as a member of Tesla’s Instrumentation, Calibration, and Imaging Group to support product validation of Tesla Vehicles in development; Cybertruck, Semi, Next-gen vehicles, etc. Additionally, within this role, the person will continue providing support to the rest of the Tesla products as dictated by the priorities. This role is responsible for Instrumentation kit builds, process development, and maintaining and servicing test equipment and instrumentation. The job function will also require the Technician to support proper calibration and control of equipment used in tests performed in-house and at external test labs. The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in automotive testing, calibrations, and project management.
What You’ll Do
Maintain sensor library, sensor repair, and coordinate calibration activities of all instrumentation and test equipment
Set up a data acquisition program and validate the connectivity of all the sensors
Installation, calibration, and set up of strain gages is a plus
Design and create custom brackets and fixtures
Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment
Perform in-house calibration of devices by comparing measurements of pressure, temperature, acceleration, or other environmental conditions to known standards
Conduct calibration tests to determine the performance or reliability of mechanical, structural, or electro-mechanical equipment
Work with vendors and coordinate onsite/ external calibrations
What You’ll Bring
Hands-on experience instrumenting Accelerometers, Loadcells, Pressure transducers, Thermocouples, Strain Gages, etc.
Experience with data acquisition systems like DTS, SOMAT, NI, DEWESOFT, etc
Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
Software proficiency: strong skills in MS Office and Adobe products, with experience with Jira and Confluence tools
Demonstrated independent and self-motivated professional with the capability to handle several tasks with minimal supervision
Basic understanding of calibration standards such as calibration ratio and inaccuracy specifications, moving into linear vs. non-linear calibrations
Formal electronics training (AC/DC circuits, formulae, and components) or Equivalent work experience, with 3 years of instrumentation and data acquisition experience or applicable degree/certification
Flexibility to travel domestically (Up to 10%)
