What to Expect
Tesla’s Energy Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated individual to manage the near and long term roadmap for AC and Supercharging. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. As part of the engineering team, you will manage the internal and externally generated hardware and software roadmap requests. You will use your engineering background to understand the organizational requirements necessary to fulfill requests and work with cross functional leaders to define final scope and timing of solutions. You will communicate and present project portfolio status to executive leadership, highlight risks, and develop recovery plans in the event of project slip or change requests. You will be based out of the Bay Area (Palo Alto) with the expectation of some travel to other Tesla facilities as program needs dictate.
What You’ll Do
Work with project management, hardware design, compliance, manufacturing, facilities, service, reliability, supply chain, cloud and embedded software, and Tesla business leaders to identify and scope projects for key charging hardware and software features
Serve as the primary conduit into the engineering organization to deliver, manage, and communicate external stakeholder needs
Manage the roadmap for hardware, software, and key organizational milestones
Ensure correct prioritization within the organization for full product lifecycle needs
Identify and help resolve strategic business risks
Define processes and communication structures that will improve risk and change management
What You’ll Bring
7+ years of experience in project, product, or engineering management
Clear and concise communicator with excellent verbal and presentation skills
Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects through mass production or deployment
Demonstrated understanding of hardware product design life cycles
Demonstrated understanding of software engineering development processes
Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
Skills with common program management tools, software, and practices
Degree in Engineering discipline, preferably Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience
